Reading it again and again
I just purchased this book for my 3 & 5 year old daughters. They ask me to read it over and over. It has been a good lesson on loving your enemies yet in a way that is gentle for little ones. I plan to buy more of these books for our home reading.

Parable in modern day
This is a modern day telling of the parable of the prodigal son. Through excellent drawings, simple text and delightful dialogue, children can easily understand that it's o.k. to make mistakes and you will be forgiven.

Advanced Theology for Very Tiny Persons (Four Board Books in a Slipcase)
Published in Hardcover by Word Publishing (October, 1988)
Authors: Doris E. Sanford, Deena Davis, and Graci Evans
Average review score:

Four Tiny Books, Lots of Big Rewards
These small out-of-print books are wonderful. They are in a set and the titles include: "The Child of God"- this one tells the fruits of the Spirit and includes sweet, simple and accurate pictures that show the specific fruit in action; "The World of God"- tells the days of creation; "The Friends of God"- tells of some well known Biblical people and why they were considered friends of God (includes a neat reflective "mirror" at the end for the child to see himself/herself as a friend of God); and, finally, "The Names of God"-several names and descriptions of God and appropriate pictures demonstrating the name or character trait of God. If you are reading this review then you must have come upon these somewhere. They really are gentle books for small children. Well worth time spent finding them and reading and re-reading them to your children.

The Old West gets a new hero!
My children loved this easy to read story of a young inventor in the Old West who uses his crazy inventions to take on a gang of trouble making cowpokes. Archie is an imaginative kid who stands up for the underdog and even manages to please his Ma at the same time. Who could ask for more?

Excellent resource for diversity topics/activities.
28 brief lesson plans for grades pre-kindergarten to 1st grade using activities to enhance motor skills and creativity and knowledge of African American heritage topics. Clever snack recipies accompany the lessons (i.e., peanut butter sandwiches will be served with the lesson on George Washington Carver). This book was well received in our library for use in activity programs on diversity issues.

The After-Christmas Tree
Published in School & Library Binding by Viking Press (October, 1990)
Authors: Linda Wagner Tyler and Susan Davis
Average review score:

The After Christmas Tree
When it's time to take down the Christmas tree, don't let the "end of holiday blues" strike your children. Read this story and then continue the Christmas spirit of giving by decorating your discarded Christmas tree for the birds (and any other creatures searching for food in the dead of the winter!) A great family book and activity. Also a great activity for Kindergarten teachers to use when students return from Christmas vacation!
